"Free mockup generator" usually means "watermarked output you can't actually use". Here's which free tools give usable output and which are bait-and-switch.
Most "free mockup generator" tools have a catch — watermarked output, low-res downloads, signup walls, or a 3-photo limit before paywall. This is a ranking by what you actually get free without paying.
