Top 10 mockup generators 2026 — ranked by Etsy & POD seller use case

Quick disclosure: we build Hauld, one of the tools on this list. We're putting it where it actually deserves to be ranked by use case, not at #1 across the board. The point of a listicle is to help you pick — not to puff our own product.

Rankings here are based on fit per use case, not "best overall" (which is meaningless when sellers have wildly different volumes, budgets, and styles). Each entry has: what it's best for, pricing, and the honest catch.

1. Placeit — best if you ship 100+ mockups/month

Subscription template tool from Envato.

Price: $14.95 a month or $89.69 a year on placeit.net (October 18, 2026)
Best for: high-volume POD sellers, sellers needing video mockups, sellers who want a broad library (29,000+ assets, by its own FAQ)
Catch: the templates are the same for every subscriber, so two shops in your niche can end up with the same scene.

If you cross 100 mockups/month, the per-mockup cost on the yearly plan ($7.47 a month, so $0.07 to $0.15 a mockup at 100 to 50 a month) is hard to beat. Below that volume, you're paying for unused capacity. More in Placeit pricing in 2026.

2. Hauld — best for AI-rendered unique scenes, with a free plan

AI-render tool (disclosure: we built this). Free plan, one-time pack or monthly plans.

Price: free plan with 10 photos a month (1024px, small mark); a $9 one-time pack of 30 photos; Creator at $12 a month for 150, Shop at $29 a month for 600.
Best for: Etsy sellers shipping 5–50 listings, POD shops doing drops in bursts, anyone who wants editorial lifestyle scenes that aren't templates
Catch: AI renders mean occasional misses. We generate 7 candidates and keep the best 5, but some designs are still hard for the model — free preview first to see if your style works.

If you want unique scenes per listing and a free plan to start from, this is the option. If you need 200+ predictable templated mockups/month, Placeit is your tool.

3. Smartmockups (now Canva Mockups) — best if you already work in Canva

Price: free up to 2,500 mockups on a free Canva account; Canva Pro for more and for the Pro templates (canva.com/mockups, October 18, 2026)
Best for: sellers already in Canva who want the mockup feature without adding another tool
Catch: the templates are the same for every Canva user, so your photos can match other shops'.

If you're not already in Canva, Mockey or Hauld's free plan are the alternatives.

4. Mockey — best for a free test run

Template library with a free plan for personal use, and paid plans for selling with its mockups.

Price: free plan for personal use (JPG, 3 downloads a day); commercial use from $9.90 a month or $68 a year, or $199 once on its Forever plan (mockey.ai/pricing, October 18, 2026)
Best for: first-time mockup users testing if templates work for them
Catch: the free plan is personal use only, so listing photos need a paid plan, and the templates are shared with every user.

Use it for a quick "would mockups work for my product?" test. If you need photos nobody else has, move to a tool that renders them.

5. Printful Mockup Generator — best if you fulfill with Printful

Built into the Printful dashboard, under Product templates. Free with a Printful account.

Price: free, with unlimited high-resolution downloads, for the products in Printful's catalog (printful.com/mockup-generator, read October 18, 2026)
Best for: Printful POD sellers who want zero-effort mockups in the listing-creation flow
Catch: the templates, from clean studio backgrounds to lifestyle shots, are the same for every Printful seller, so your output can look like other Printful shops.

6. Printify Mockup Generator — same story as Printful

Built into Printify's Product Creator. Free with a Printify account.

Price: free, unlimited and watermark-free for the 2,000+ products in Printify's catalog; AI scenes need Printify Premium, 10 tries every 24 hours on select products (printify.com/mockup-generator, read October 18, 2026)
Best for: Printify POD sellers, same use case as Printful
Catch: template-based, the same mockups for every Printify seller.

7. Mediamodifier — best for ad-creative variety

Template tool with a strong scene library, oriented toward marketing teams.

Price: no free plan on its pricing page; the Professional plan is $19 a month or $190 a year (mediamodifier.com/pricing, October 18, 2026)
Best for: sellers running paid ads who need lots of scene variants for A/B testing
Catch: it is a subscription even if you only make mockups now and then.

Worth it if you ship 50+ ad variants/month. Below that, the math doesn't work.

8. Canva Mockups — best if you already do design in Canva

Built into Canva, including the free plan.

Price: free up to 2,500 mockups; Canva Pro, a subscription, for more and for the Pro templates (canva.com/mockups, October 18, 2026)
Best for: sellers who use Canva as their primary design tool
Catch: smaller template selection than dedicated mockup tools. Output is fine, just less variety.

Don't add Canva Pro just for the mockups: the free account already covers 2,500, and Hauld has a free plan of 10 photos a month. Add Canva Pro if you also want the design tools, brand kits, etc.

9. BulkMockup — best for bulk Photoshop mockups

A Photoshop plugin, now also a web app in the browser, that fills the smart objects of mockup templates with many designs in one run.

Price: the Photoshop plugin is $19 a month or $119 a year, plus Photoshop CC 2022 or later; the web app, without Photoshop, is $10 a month or $69 a year (bulkmockup.com/pricing, October 18, 2026)
Best for: sellers shipping 200+ listings, agencies managing multiple shops, already in Photoshop
Catch: you bring the templates, and the plugin needs Photoshop skills. A Shopify app is in beta; no Etsy integration is listed.

Sole-proprietor Etsy shop? Probably overkill. Multi-shop agency that lives in Photoshop? Solid.

10. Mockuuups Studio — best for digital products and app screenshots

Focused on device mockups (iPhone, MacBook, Apple Watch).

Price: pay per export, or a monthly or yearly subscription for unlimited exports (mockuuups.studio/pricing, October 18, 2026)
Best for: SaaS landing pages, digital product sellers, app marketers
Catch: print mockups (posters, cards, books) but no mugs or apparel. Not the right tool if you sell mugs, apparel, or handmade.
