Quick answers.
What is the Etsy tag character limit?
Each Etsy listing tag must be 20 characters or fewer (spaces included). You get 13 tag slots per listing. This tool checks both at once.
Can I paste a comma-separated list?
Yes — paste any comma- or newline-separated string into the first slot and we split it into the 13 fields automatically.
Which characters can an Etsy tag contain?
Letters (accented ones included), numbers, spaces, hyphens, straight apostrophes, and the trademark, copyright and registered signs: that is the rule in Etsy's own API documentation. Anything else, such as a comma, an ampersand or an emoji, is not accepted, and the counter flags the tag and names the character. Watch the apostrophe: phones often type a curly ’ that Etsy refuses, so swap it for a straight '.
Is this only for Etsy?
The 20-char rule is Etsy-specific. eBay/Amazon have different limits — use platform-specific tools for those.
